About Me

I have been a dedicated disciple of Iyengar Yoga since 2003. I hold a level II of certification (CIYT 3000) with the Iyengar Yoga National Association (IYNAUS). My sharp observation skills and clear teaching points allow me to teach appropriately to the group in front of me, whether they are younger, older, athletic, or have physical limitations. I live in Cocoa Beach with my two boys and love the sea.

About the Teaching

Dr. Lois Steinberg teaching Netta stages of Urdhva Dhanurasana

Precision and Alignment

In 2011, I moved to Urbana, IL to study under the guidance of the world most renowned Iyengar Yoga Teacher, Dr. Lois Steinberg. Her precise instructions influenced my practice and teaching. In the picture Lois is teaching me stages to perfect Urdva Dhanurasana. The Iyengar method emphasizes precision in alignment, ensuring that the body is correctly positioned to maximize the benefits of each asana and prevent injury during practice.

Use of Props for Accessibility

Shortly after visiting in Puna, India to study under the guidance of B.K.S. Iyengar, I moved to Columbia, MO and gathered a dedicated group of practitioners. Providing the right props —belts, blocks, blankets, chairs and a rope wall—I helped students of all levels achieve correct alignment regardless of their physical limitations. In the picture, my students practicing supported Viparita Dandasana.

Sequencing and Timing

The teaching follows a systematic sequence that builds strength and flexibility over time. Each class explores poses held for specific durations to deepen the physiological effect. At the studio we follow a monthly rotation, alternating weekly between standing poses, forward bends, back bends and recuperative poses.

Self-Observation

Students learn to cultivate sharp observation within their own bodies, developing a deep internal awareness that bridges the physical practice with mental clarity. Yoga is not really about stability, flexibility and strength. It's about spreading the awareness everywhere at once, and allowing one to continue and dance until the end of time.

Ongoing Commitment

The practice of Iyengar Yoga is a lifelong commitment to learning. I've learned through my pregnancies, I've learned through my miscarriages, I've learned through my injuries and I'm here to teach you. Being a certified teacher, I continue my education through rigorous practice and study with senior masters. In the picture; A semi private class at my house with three of my favorite students demonstrating supported Sirsasana.
